VIOLIN BASICS

Here are some basics for violin instrument

A violin has six strings and there are no frets on the violin neck. We need to memorize the place and hear the sound to play the correct note. The strings are numbered from bottom to top. So the first string is the bottom string which is the thinnest one with the highest sound and the fourth string is the top string which is the boldest one with a lowest sound. The open string notes on the violin are as follows from bottom to top:
E, A, D, G.

Violin is played with a bow. Like in the guitar, we use our left hand fingers to press on the string on the neck but we use our right hand to hold the bow.

It's not easy to hold the bow, so we need to practice a lot. If we cannot hold the bow correctly, we cannot play the violin well. So before playing a song with the bow, we should first practice the song without the bow by using the pizzicato method in guitar position. This way we can teach ourselves the correct place for the notes.
